Softball Game Preview: Fairmont Golden Tornadoes vs. South Brunswick Cougars

Fairmont hasn't had much luck against South Brunswick recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Fairmont Golden Tornadoes are taking a road trip to face off against the South Brunswick Cougars at 6:00 p.m.

Fairmont is headed into Tuesday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Monday. They came up short against Jack Britt, falling 14-7.

Meanwhile, South Brunswick gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Friday. They skirted past Scotland 1-0. The win was nothing new for the Cougars as they're now sitting on 14 straight dating back to last season.

Not much got past Kina Davis, who gave up just three hits and racked up 15 Ks to keep Scotland off the board.

On the hitting side, South Brunswick saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Carly Clewis, who went 2-for-3 with one RBI.

Fairmont's defeat dropped their record down to 0-3. As for South Brunswick, they pushed their record up to 1-0 with the victory, which was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season.

Fairmont might still be hurting after the 10-2 loss they got from South Brunswick when the teams last played back in March of 2024. Can Fairmont avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
