Basketball Recap: The Woodlands Comes Up Short

The Woodlands suffered their biggest loss since November 19, 2024 on Saturday. They came up short against the Willis Wildkats, falling 84-61. The Highlanders just can't catch a break and have now endured four defeats in a row.

Willis' victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Tyshon Nixon, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and ten assists. That's the most assists Nixon has posted since back in November of 2023. Another player making a difference was Chandler Beasley, who went 9 of 18 on his way to 25 points and eight rebounds.

The Woodlands' loss dropped their record down to 11-14. As for Willis, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 15-9.

The Woodlands and Willis should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings. The Woodlands (ranked 487th) will meet Caney Creek (ranked 1047th) at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Similarly, Willis will face off against Cleveland at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday up 627 places (410 vs. 1037).
