Basketball Recap: Monday's Win Is True North Classical Academy's Eighth in Last Nine Outings

On Monday, the True North Classical Academy Titans beat the Plantation Colonels 73-64. Given the Titans' advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 143rd, while the Colonels are ranked 325th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Boosie Swan was his usual excellent self, going 9 of 13 en route to 27 points and five steals. That's the most points he has posted since back in January of 2024. Quincy Douby Jr was another key player, putting up 12 points in addition to seven assists and five rebounds.

Plantation lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Jabari Washington, who posted 21 points along with seven boards and three steals. Washington has been hot recently, having posted three or more steals the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Sahmaj Alcime, who scored 19 points.

True North Classical Academy is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 11-10 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.0 points per game. As for Plantation, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-11.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. True North Classical Academy will welcome Hialeah Educational Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. One thing working in True North Classical Academy's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last four contests. As for Plantation, they will host Everglades at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Plantation is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 59.4 points per game this season.
