Softball Recap: Toms River North's Luck Changes for the Better on Friday

Toms River North came into Friday's contest having lost five straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They came out on top against the Ocean Township Spartans by a score of 4-1 on Friday.

Alexa Iovine spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on six hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 11 consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Dalylia Lyon, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Lilly Bossow, who went 1-for-3 with two runs.

Toms River North's victory bumped their record up to 12-10-1. As for Ocean Township, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 10-9.

Coincidentally, Toms River North and Ocean Township will both be playing Rumson-Fair Haven the next time they take the field. The Mariners will head out to face the Bulldogs at 3:45 p.m. on Monday, while the Spartans will host them at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
