Baseball Game Preview: Northampton Konkrete Kids vs. Easton Area Rovers

The Northampton Konkrete Kids will challenge the Easton Area Rovers at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Northampton is coming into the matchup on a four-game losing streak.

The home team had come away the winner the last four times Northampton and Pocono Mountain East had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. The Konkrete Kids fell 5-2 to the Cardinals on Monday.

Meanwhile, Easton Area hadn't done well against Liberty recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Rovers came out on top against the Hurricanes by a score of 8-3. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Rovers.

Zach Mattes tossed a big game, pitching five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off five hits. He is becoming a predictor of Easton Area's success: when he allows at most one earned run the team is undefeated (and 4-5 when he doesn't).

At the plate, Chase Shollenberger was incredible, going 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Brogan Pagotto, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Northampton's loss dropped their record down to 6-9. As for Easton Area, their victory bumped their record up to 8-5.
