Football Game Preview: Wolfe City Wolves vs. Whitewright Tigers

The Wolfe City Wolves will challenge the Whitewright Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Wolfe City has three straight victories, Whitewright has three straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

It was another big night for Hd Davis, who rushed for 503 yards and three TDs while picking up 11.2 yards per carry, and also picked up 64 receiving yards and one touchdown. His rushing production has been exceptional for a while as that marked his 18th straight game with at least 110 rushing yards dating back to last season. Another player making a difference was Brennon Russell, who picked up 80 receiving yards and a pair of scores.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Wolfe City was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 532 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 167 rushing yards every time they've taken the field this season.

Meanwhile, Whitewright played a tough game on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They took a blow against Alvord, falling 41-6. The Tigers were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 27-0.

Wolfe City now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Whitewright, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-4.

Everything came up roses for Wolfe City against Whitewright in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, as the team secured a 70-28 win. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was the Tigers' Gage Walker, who rushed for 193 yards and three TDs while picking up 12.1 yards per carry.
