Softball Recap: McGuffey Victorious

McGuffey lost to Keystone Oaks on Wednesday, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Wednesday. The Highlanders came out on top against the Golden Eagles by a score of 11-6.

Miley Main was a major factor no matter where she played. She struck out nine batters over seven innings while giving up six earned runs off nine hits. Main was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-5. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times she's played.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Courtney Bedillion, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-4. She also put up a double, which was her first of the season. Mackenzie Shrader was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-4.

McGuffey kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

McGuffey's win bumped their record up to 6-4. As for Keystone Oaks, with the loss, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 6-6.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. McGuffey will take on Charleroi at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Highlanders' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Cougars have averaged an impressive 6.6 runs per game this season. As for Keystone Oaks, they will square off against South Park at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
