Baseball Recap: Payette Takes a Loss

Payette lost against Marsh Valley on Friday, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Pirates fell just short of the Eagles by a score of 8-6. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Pirates have suffered since April 16th.

Jake Penfold put in work while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Penfold was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one run.

In other batting news, Jahzyon Sylva was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with three RBI, two runs, and one double. He has become a key player for Payette: the team is 4-2 when he posts at least two runs, but 10-11 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Jaxon Rodriguez, who went 2-for-4 with one RBI.

Payette's defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 14-13. As for Marsh Valley, the win was the 12th in a row for them, bringing their record up to 24-2.

As of now, neither Payette nor the Eagles have any future games scheduled.
