Williams Valley and Upper Dauphin Area are an even 4-4 against one another since April of 2015, but likely not for long. The Vikings will head out to square off against the Trojans at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Williams Valley is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.1 runs per game this season.

Williams Valley is headed into Monday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Friday. They came up short against Tri-Valley, falling 18-8.

Brady Shomper and Cody Boehmer did some serious damage despite the final result: Shomper scored two runs while going 1-for-3, while Boehmer scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-2. Another player making a difference was Fletcher Thompson, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

Meanwhile, Upper Dauphin Area didn't have quite enough to beat Line Mountain on Friday and fell 11-10. That's two games in a row now that the Trojans have lost by just one run.

Hunter Grassmyer and Tyler Erdley stepped up to the plate in a big way. Grassmyer went 3-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and one double, while Erdley scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances. Upper Dauphin Area is 2-1 when Erdley posts two or more runs, but 1-4 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Tyler Minier, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4.

This is the second loss in a row for Upper Dauphin Area and nudges their season record down to 3-5. Even worse, they were so close both times: the defeats came by an average of only one runs. As for Williams Valley, their loss dropped their record down to 3-5.

Williams Valley came out on top in a nail-biter against Upper Dauphin Area in their previous matchup back in March of 2023, sneaking past 4-2. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Vikings since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
