Baseball Game Preview: Rogers Vikings vs. Johnston Panthers

The Rogers Vikings will square off against the Johnston Panthers at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday. Rogers will be strutting in after a win while Johnston will be coming in after a loss.

Having struggled with five defeats in a row, Rogers turned things around against Mt. Pleasant on Friday. They had just enough and edged out the Kilties 3-2.

Colby Schreiber made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Rogers is 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 3-8 otherwise. Schreiber was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. That home run was his first of the season.

In other batting news, Christopher Rosa was excellent, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run and one RBI. Danny Hart also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Meanwhile, Monday just wasn't the day for Johnston's offense. They fell just short of Prout by a score of 2-0 on Monday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Panthers have suffered since May 13, 2025.

Johnston has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-7 record this season. As for Rogers, their victory bumped their record up to 5-9.
