Basketball Recap: Diamond Hill-Jarvis Comes Up Short

After flying high against Carter-Riverside last Friday, Diamond Hill-Jarvis came back down to earth. The Diamond Hill-Jarvis Eagles were outmatched by the Dunbar Wildcats and fell 96-64. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Eagles this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 59-31 back in December of 2024.

When it comes to explaining why Diamond Hill-Jarvis lost on Tuesday, don't look at Anthony Elizondo. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 40 points and 11 boards. The contest was Elizondo's fourth in a row with at least ten points. Raul Marquez was another key player, putting up eight points.

Even though they lost, Diamond Hill-Jarvis smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive boards in three consecutive games.

Diamond Hill-Jarvis has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-17 record this season. As for Dunbar, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-13.

Coincidentally, both will both be playing Southwest the next time they take the court. Dunbar will host Southwest at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, while Diamond Hill-Jarvis will host them at 6:30 p.m. on January 28th.
