Softball Game Preview: St. Pius X Sartans vs. Lovington Wildcats

The St. Pius X Sartans will square off against the Lovington Wildcats at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

St. Pius X's pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They were the clear victors by an 11-0 margin over Grants. The Sartans haven't had any issues with the Pirates recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive victory against them.

The team relied heavily on Diamor Ibarra-Villegas, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI. That triple marked the first that she hit this season. Another player making a difference was Amari Jaramillo, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

Meanwhile, Lovington faced Atrisco Heritage Academy in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Wildcats blew past the Jaguars 9-3. The win was nothing new for the Wildcats as they're now sitting on three straight.

St. Pius X's victory bumped their record up to 6-10. As for Lovington, their win bumped their record up to 8-4.
