Basketball Recap: Aztec Falls Despite Big Games from Eathen Hengst and Christian Jacquez + How To Watch

It was a proper cat-fight when Aztec took on Ignacio on Thursday. The Tigers lost 63-42 to the Bobcats. The Tigers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Aztec's loss came despite strong showings from Christian Jacquez and Eathen Hengst. Jacquez posted eight points and five rebounds, while Hengst scored seven points.

Leading Ignacio to victory were Ambrose Valdez and Trace Crane. Valdez went 7-for-12 to rack up 19 points and six assists, while Crane dropped a double-double with 19 points and 15 boards. That's the most points Crane has posted since back in January. Thunder WindyBoy was another key player, putting up ten points and four steals.

Aztec's loss dropped their record down to 1-7. As for Ignacio, their win bumped their record up to 3-1.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Aztec will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Tohatchi at 7:00 p.m. on January 2, 2026. As for Ignacio, they and Bloomfield will face off at 6:00 p.m. on Friday without much rest, having both just played.
