Basketball Game Preview: Winnsboro Raiders vs. Commerce Tigers

Winnsboro is 0-5 against Commerce since December of 2015 but things could change on Tuesday. The Winnsboro Raiders will host the Commerce Tigers at 7:30 p.m. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Having struggled with six defeats in a row, Winnsboro turned things around against White Oak on Saturday. They snuck past the Roughnecks with a 49-45 victory.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Commerce, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Saturday. They walked away with a 63-55 win over Rains on Friday. Given the Tigers' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 239th, while the Wildcats are ranked 590th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Commerce is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 14-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.7 points per game. As for Winnsboro, their victory bumped their record up to 6-7.

Winnsboro suffered a grim 67-42 defeat to Commerce in their previous matchup back in February of 2020. Can Winnsboro avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
