Football Game Preview: Onondaga Tigers vs. Weedsport Wolverines

The Onondaga Tigers will square off against the Weedsport Wolverines at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Onondaga had to skate by with only a one-point margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 20-point drubbing they dealt Hannibal on Saturday. The Tigers put the hurt on the Warriors with a sharp 28-8 win. The result was nothing new for the Tigers, who have now won three games by 20 points or more so far this season.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Weedsport). They blew past Pulaski 62-15 on Saturday. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 35-7.

Onondaga's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 4-4. Those road wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 6.7 points on average over those games. As for Weedsport, their victory bumped their record up to 5-3.

Onondaga was taken down by Weedsport 36-6 in their previous matchup back in October of 2023. Can the Tigers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
