Basketball Recap: Quintin Cooper's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Coolidge over Jackson-Reed

Coolidge fought the good fight in their overtime game against Jackson-Reed on Monday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell to the Jackson-Reed Tigers 70-65. The Colts have struggled against the Tigers recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive lost matchup.

Several Colts players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Quintin Cooper, who went 7 for 17 en route to 23 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Makiah Gray, who went 8 of 18 to rack up 18 points.

Even though they lost, Coolidge smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've posted since back in December of 2024.

Jackson-Reed's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Lane Mahan, who almost dropped a double-double on 13 points and nine boards. That's the most points Mahan has posted since back in December of 2024. Pete Newman was another key player, putting up 15 points and five assists.

Coolidge's defeat dropped their record down to 14-6. As for Jackson-Reed, their victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 17-6.

Coolidge has already played their next contest, a 57-45 win against Ballou on the 29th. As for Jackson-Reed, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 75-17 victory against Anacostia on the 31st.
