Volleyball Recap: Riverside-Durham Triumphs + How To Watch

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Durham Academy, Riverside-Durham was happy to have turned things around on Monday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 win over the Cary Imps. For the Pirates, this counts as revenge for the 3-0 victory the Imps walked away with the last time they faced one another back in August of 2024.

It was an exciting match in which no team won back-to-back sets, but at the end of the day Riverside-Durham got the one that really mattered. The final score came out to 25-12, 18-25, 25-21, 15-25, 15-10.

Nureen Khan was a one-woman wrecking crew as she had 27 digs and four aces. The team also got some help courtesy of Liesl Rehder, who had ten assists and three aces.

They weren't the only good server: Riverside-Durham was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 17 aces. That's the most aces they've posted since back in September of 2024.

Riverside-Durham now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Cary, they dropped their record down to 0-3 with the defeat, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Riverside-Durham will head out to take on Eastern Alamance at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Cary, they will venture away from home to face off against Apex at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Cougars will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something the Imps surely won't give up without a fight.
