Baseball Recap: Cathedral Catholic Comes Up Short

Cathedral Catholic was the 5-0 winner over Grossmont when they last played one another back in March of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Dons fell just short of the Foothillers by a score of 4-2 on Thursday.

Jose Partida was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he pitched five innings while giving up just two earned runs off six hits.

At the plate, Cathedral Catholic saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Joshua Priest, who went 2-for-3 with one double. Another was Trey Gudoy, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

Cathedral Catholic's defeat dropped their record down to 8-6. As for Grossmont, their record now sits at 7-8.

The future could be bright for both Cathedral Catholic and Grossmont: their next opponents haven't had the best luck recently. The Dons will look to extend Bonita Vista's five-game losing streak when they meet at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Grossmont will try to hand Valhalla their fourth-straight loss when the two meet at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
