Football Game Preview: Newton-Conover Red Devils vs. Foard Tigers

The Newton-Conover Red Devils will venture away from home to take on the Foard Tigers at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Newton-Conover's favor is that they have posted at least 31 points in their last four contests.

While Newton-Conover's win against West Iredell wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Red Devils slipped by the Warriors 37-36 on Friday.

Newton-Conover's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Naiym Robinson led the charge by picking up 74 receiving yards and one TD. That's the most receiving yards Robinson has posted since back in September of 2024. Timothy Mehalic also helped out with an impressive 82 receiving yards.

Newton-Conover was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 279 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 169 rushing yards in nine consecutive matchups dating back to last season.

Meanwhile, Foard had to endure a five-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They took down Bunker Hill 21-7 on Friday.

Newton-Conover's record now sits at 6-2. As for Foard, their victory was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-5 and their overall record up to 3-5.
