Basketball Recap: East Mecklenburg Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

East Mecklenburg won the last time they faced Garinger, and Jurnee Darling did her part to make sure it happened again. The East Mecklenburg Eagles took their game on Tuesday with ease, bagging a 64-28 win over the Garinger Wildcats thanks in part to Darling, who went 9 of 18 en route to 19 points and three steals. That's the most points she has posted since back in January of 2024.

Kameyah Brown was another key player, putting up five points in addition to 14 rebounds and three blocks. She is on a roll when it comes to boards, as she's now pulled down ten or more in the last three games she's played.

The victory snapped East Mecklenburg's losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 5-14 record. As for Garinger, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-15.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. East Mecklenburg won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Central Cabarrus at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Garinger, they will face off against Independence at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
