Monterey Trail is 1-9 against Franklin since March of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. The Mustangs will take on the Wildcats at 4:00 p.m.

Monterey Trail came into their game on Monday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They lost 12-2 to Laguna Creek.

Monterey Trail saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Aniyah Whipper, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Franklin never got on the board in their matchup on Friday, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Cosumnes Oaks on Monday. They blew past the Wolfpack 15-7.

Drew Towne looked comfortable as she struck out eight batters over four innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 6 strikeouts per game.

At the plate, Leah Pham was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with four RBI and two runs. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Kalani Phearson, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Franklin was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .438. They are undefeated (5-0) when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Franklin is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-11-1 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.8 runs over those games. As for Monterey Trail, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-16.
