Baseball Game Preview: Eatonville Cruisers vs. Orting Cardinals

The Eatonville Cruisers will head out to square off against the Orting Cardinals at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Eatonville knows how to get runs on the board -- the squad has finished with ten runs or more in their past three games -- so hopefully Orting likes a good challenge.

On Wednesday, Eatonville got the win against Washington by a conclusive 13-1. The victory continues a trend for the Cruisers in their matchups with the Patriots: they've now won eight in a row.

Ben Smith made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out nine over five innings pitched. Those nine strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with one triple and two RBI.

In other batting news, Colton Herbrand was incredible, going 2-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. He has become a key player for Eatonville: the team is 4-2 when he posts at least two runs, but 3-7 otherwise. Justen Koch was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and three runs.

Eatonville hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Washington struck out nine times.

Meanwhile, Orting owes their pitching crew a big pat on the back after their performance on Thursday. They had just enough and edged out Fife 1-0. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Cardinals.

Eatonville's record is now 7-9. As for Orting, their record now sits at 14-4.

Eatonville suffered a grim 17-7 defeat to Orting when the teams last played back in March of 2022. Can the Cruisers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
