Baseball Recap: Brewbaker Tech Takes a Loss

Brewbaker Tech was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They took an 8-4 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Prattville Christian Academy Panthers. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Panthers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 11-5 last Tuesday.

Josh Mitchell Jr. was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one hit in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.

Mitchell Jr. wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Tanner Thornton, who went 2-for-4 with one double and one RBI. That double was Thornton's first of the season.

Brewbaker Tech's loss dropped their record down to 2-5. As for Prattville Christian Academy, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 7-0.

Looking ahead, Brewbaker Tech will square off against Alabama Christian Academy at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday. Brewbaker Tech is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.3 runs per game this season. As for Prattville Christian Academy, they will take on Whitesburg Christian Academy in a tournament on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average, (Whitesburg Christian Academy: 4, Prattville Christian Academy: 3) so any runs scored will be well earned.
