Volleyball Recap: Edgewood Takes a Loss

After flying high against Grand Valley on Monday, Edgewood came back down to earth. The Warriors came up short against the Kirtland Hornets on Tuesday, falling 3-0. The Warriors were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Hornets apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in August of 2024.

Edgewood took the loss but they managed to make steady progress, increasing their score in every set they played. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-20, 25-22, 25-23.

Faith Vencill paced Edgewood's offense, picking up 15 kills. Vencill got some help from Summer Matthews and her 26 assists. Vencill was also solid from the service line: she led the team with four aces.

Edgewood's defeat dropped their record down to 3-2. As for Kirtland, their win was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 3-0.

Coming up, Edgewood will face off against Chardon at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Kirtland, they will square off against West Geauga at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
