Basketball Recap: Bingham Extends Winning Streak to Five

Bingham came tearing into Thursday's matchup with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 19 points), and they left with even more momentum. They strolled past the Skyridge Falcons with points to spare, taking the game 64-47. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Miners' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Utah basketball rankings (they are ranked fifth, while the Falcons are ranked 26th).

Leading Bingham to victory were Evalyn Roberts and Veanna Pau'u. Roberts made all 6 shots she took from beyond the arc racking up 20 points in addition to seven boards and six assists, while Pau'u shot 73% from the field on her way to 18 points. Thanks to that strong game, Roberts now owns an excellent 47.4% field goal percentage. Another player making a difference was Brizzy Cottle, who posted eight points and five assists.

They weren't the only ones working in the assist department: Bingham was working as a unit and finished the game with 22 assists. They racked up 12 more assists than Skyridge's also-impressive total of ten.

Skyridge's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Lily Grant, who put up 13 points. Abby Dotson also deserves some recognition as she posted her first block of the season.

Bingham's victory bumped their record up to 6-1. As for Skyridge, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-3.

Coming up, Bingham will be taking part in a tournament against West Linn at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Skyridge, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 54-49 win against Riverton on the 12th.
