Basketball Recap: Pecos Comes Up Short

Pecos was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their 14th straight defeat. They were beaten by the Fort Stockton Panthers 104-52. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1478th, while the Panthers are ranked 552nd).

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Fort Stockton to victory, but perhaps none more so than Aundre Washington, who dropped a double-double on 24 points and 15 rebounds. Those 15 boards gave Washington a new career-high. Evan Cordero was another key player, going 9 for 10 en route to 22 points along with seven rebounds and four steals.

Pecos' loss dropped their record down to 1-15. As for Fort Stockton, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 18-8 record this season.

Pecos has already played their next contest (against Greenwood), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Fort Stockton will venture away from home to challenge Andrews at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Fort Stockton is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 56 points per game this season.
