Baseball Recap: Carroll Chargers vs. DeKalb Barons        
        
		
            
 Carroll proved they can win big  last Monday (they won by 12) but  on Tuesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with  a  7-5  win over the DeKalb Barons. For Carroll, this counts as revenge for the   1-0 loss DeKalb walked away with the last time they faced one another  back in May of 2023.
  Jaxon Sparks made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he  struck out seven batters over  3.1 innings while giving up just two earned runs off   two  hits. Sparks was also big at the plate,  scoring two  runs and  stealing a base while going 2-for-4.
 Sparks wasn't  the only one making solid contact as  four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was  Jaxon Craker, who  scored a  run and  stole a base while going 1-for-4.
 On DeKalb's side,  Aaden Lytle and  Ashten Tuttle did some serious damage despite the final result:  Lytle  went 2-for-3 with a  triple, a  run,  and a  double, while  Tuttle  went 1-for-3 with a  home run and two  runs.  Bryson Gadson was another key contributor,  scoring a  run while  getting on base  in all three of his plate appearances.
 Carroll has  been performing  well recently as they've  won three of their last four matches,  which provided a nice bump to their 5-3 record  this season. As for DeKalb, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-5.
 Both  teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Carroll will take on Fort Wayne Bishop Dwenger at 5:30  p.m.  on Friday. As for DeKalb, their homestand will continue as they prepare to take on Fort Wayne Concordia Lutheran at 5:00  p.m.  on Wednesday. DeKalb is strutting in with some hitting muscle, as they've averaged 7  runs per game this season.
