Canutillo hadn't done well against Ysleta recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Canutillo Eagles had just enough and edged out the Ysleta Indians 8-7. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Eagles have posted since February 18th.

Canutillo's win was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Giovanna Navarro, who scored two runs while going 1-for-3. That's the most runs Navarro has posted over her last 12 contests. Alina Banda was another, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI.

Canutillo's victory bumped their record up to 9-6-1. As for Ysleta, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-6-1.

Coincidentally, Canutillo and Ysleta will both be playing Eastwood the next time they take the field. Ysleta will head out to face Eastwood at 4:10 p.m. on Thursday, while Canutillo will host them at 5:50 p.m. on Friday.
