After flying high against Stockdale on Friday, Poteet came back down to earth. The Poteet Aggies fell just short of the Kenedy Lions by a score of 10-9 on Friday. Even though they lost, the Aggies' still made a splash at the plate and bumped their average scoring up to 6.2 runs per game (they're now ranked -1th in scoring overall).
Trinity Sanchez made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run and one stolen base. That home run was her first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Liliana Garzes, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 2-for-3.
Even though they lost, Poteet was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .522. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .385 or higher in ten consecutive contests.
Poteet's defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 4-10. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 11.7 runs. As for Kenedy, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 9-5-1.
Looking ahead, Poteet will look to defend their home field on Friday against Ben Bolt at 3:30 p.m. As for Kenedy, a feisty cat fight will be fought as the Lions face off against the Wildcats at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
