Basketball Recap: Keene Central Sets Scoring Season-High Against Lake Placid

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Keene Central). They put the hurt on the Lake Placid Bombers with a sharp 63-38 win on Thursday. The team's explosion on offense also rewarded the Beavers with their most commanding win of the season.

Keene Central was led to victory by Vann Morrelli and Peter Robjent. Morrelli dropped a double-double on 19 points and 14 rebounds, while Robjent dropped a double-double on 16 points and 11 boards. Morrelli has been hot, having also posted two or more steals the last five times he's played. Another player making a difference was Brayden Harmer, who went 5 of 8 on his way to 12 points and three blocks.

Keene Central was working as a unit and finished the game with 15 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

When it comes to explaining why Lake Placid lost, don't look at Seb Cecunjanin. Despite the final result, he posted 18 points and eight rebounds. That was a full 47.4% of Lake Placid's points, marking the seventh time in a row he's put up more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Brendan Murphy, who had four points and eight rebounds.

Keene Central pushed their record up to 5-2 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.4 points per game. As for Lake Placid, they are on a ten-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-7.

Bolton Central has been dominant on offense recently, having racked up an incredible 196 points over their last three matches. As for Lake Placid, they will welcome Seton Catholic Central at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. That contest will pit two of the most dominant guards against one another: Cecunjanin and Michael Mannix.
