Basketball Recap: Newman Greenies vs. Patterson Lumberjacks
Newman had to kick off their season on the road on Tuesday, but they showed no ill effects. They came out on top against the Patterson Lumberjacks by a score of 53-41. Winning may never get old, but the Greenies sure are getting used to it with their 13th in a row dating back to last season.
Leading Newman to victory were Randy Livingston Jr and Payton Foster. Livingston Jr went 10 for 23 en route to 23 points plus six rebounds and two steals, while Foster almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 13 rebounds. The dominant performance also gave Foster a new career-high in offensive rebounds (six). Another player making a difference was Sachin Dasa, who scored three points in addition to three steals.
Newman will look to take advantage of their home-court for the first time this season as they take on Eleanor McMain at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Patterson, they will venture away from home to take on Morgan City at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
