Softball Recap: Smithfield-Selma Comes Up Short

Smithfield-Selma was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their 26th straight loss dating back to last season. They came up short against the Fike Demons, falling 18-1. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Demons this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 22-0 back in March.

Smithfield-Selma's defeat dropped their record down to 0-14. As for Fike, their record is now 4-11.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Smithfield-Selma will welcome Knightdale at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Spartans are facing the Knights at the right time seeing as the Knights are stuck on an eight-game losing streak. As for Fike, they will host Ayden - Grifton at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Demons' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Chargers have averaged an impressive 7.3 runs per game this season.
