Softball Recap: East Mountain Timberwolves vs. Sandia Prep Sundevils
East Mountain scored the most runs they've had all season to find success on Saturday. They had just enough and edged the Sandia Prep Sundevils out 24-22. The victory was a breath of fresh air for East Mountain as it put an end to their five-game losing streak.
East Mountain got a massive performance out of Chaeli Lehocky, who scored five runs and stole a base while going 5-for-6. The team also got some help courtesy of Idaly Munoz, who scored five runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-4.
On Sandia Prep's side, Kyrie Lujan made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 4-for-6 with a home run, seven RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Madi Garcia, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 5-for-6.
Even though they lost, Sandia Prep was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .592. That's the best batting average they've managed all season.
The win got East Mountain back to even at 7-7. As for Sandia Prep, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-9.
East Mountain will head out on the road to face off against Estancia at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Sandia Prep, they will be playing at home against To'hajiilee at 3:00 p.m. in Tuesday's first game. Sandia Prep is out to stop a 11-game streak of losses at home dating back to last season.
