Baseball Recap: Bennett Tigers vs. Platte Canyon Huskies
Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Bennett). Everything went their way against the Platte Canyon Huskies on Thursday as they made off with a 22-2 win. The Tigers haven't had any issues with the Huskies recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive victory against them.
Brody Hawes was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April of 2024. He was even better at the plate, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with five RBI, three runs, and one double. Bennett is 2-1 when Hawes posts two or more runs, but 3-5 otherwise.

In other batting news, Bennett got a massive performance out of Evan Dear, who scored four runs and stole a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Those four runs gave Dear a new career-high. Dane Ortiz was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-3.
Bennett hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Platte Canyon struck out seven times.
Bennett's win bumped their record up to 5-6. As for Platte Canyon, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 0-7.
