Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Cumby). Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Fruitvale Bobcats a 21-0 shutout on Tuesday. The win continues a trend for the Trojans in their matchups with the Bobcats: they've now won four in a row.

Montgomery Benton was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (two). He was even better at the plate, going 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, three runs, and four RBI. He has become a key player for Cumby: the team is 3-1 when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 0-13 otherwise.

In other batting news, Channing Herman and Jayden Evans did most of the damage at the plate: Herman scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances, while Evans scored three runs and stole three bases while going 3-for-3. Evans is becoming a predictor of Cumby's success: when he posts at least three hits the team is 2-1 (and 1-13 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Osvaldo Ruiz, who scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.

Cumby always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .867. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Cumby picked up their first home victory, bumping their record up to 3-14. As for Fruitvale, they dropped their record down to 2-8 with the defeat, which was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season.

Cumby will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Bobcats: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
