Volleyball Recap: Verrado Takes a Loss

Verrado was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They were a single set away from ending the streak, but they lost a 2-1 heartbreaker at the hands of the Ironwood Eagles. The Vipers were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Eagles earlier this season, when they won 3-0.

Sophia Zimmerman paced Verrado's offense, picking up nine kills. Zimmerman got some help from Baylee Wakeham and her 24 assists. Isabella Bejarano controlled things from the service line, finishing with two aces.

Verrado's defeat dropped their record down to 14-13. As for Ironwood, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 13-10.

Verrado wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 2-0 victory against Maricopa on the 11th. As for Ironwood, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 2-1 win against Pinnacle on the 11th.
