Football Game Preview: Jefferson Dragons vs. Dougherty Trojans + How To Watch

After each having a week off, the Jefferson Dragons and the Dougherty Trojans will shake off the cobwebs and hit the field against one another at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Jefferson has five straight wins, Dougherty has four straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

The home team had won the previous four meetings between Jefferson and Oconee County, and Jefferson kept the tradition alive. The Dragons snuck past the Warriors with a 24-19 victory last Friday. Given the Dragons' advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia football rankings (they are ranked 29th, while the Warriors are ranked 142nd) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Jefferson can attribute much of their success to Colton Grant, who rushed for 22 yards and two scores.

Grant was just one part of a punishing run game: Jefferson was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 241 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 178 rushing yards in five consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Dougherty's game last Friday was all tied up 7-7 at the half, but sadly for them it didn't stay that way. They took a 28-21 hit to the loss column at the hands of Bainbridge.

Dougherty's loss dropped their record down to 2-8. As for Jefferson, their record now sits at 9-1.
