Baseball Recap: Sand Rock Comes Up Short

Sand Rock was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their eighth straight loss. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 9-8 heartbreaker at the hands of the Section Lions. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Wildcats of the 4-0 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2017.

Ryker Woodall led a balanced group of hitters, scoring two runs and stealing Three bases. while going 2-for-4. Those two runs gave him a new career-high. Cam Gifford was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.

Sand Rock's loss dropped their record down to 3-12. As for Section, their win bumped their record up to 3-7.

Looking ahead, Sand Rock will face off against Gaston at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Section, a feisty cat fight will be fought as Section Lions duke it out with Spring Garden Panthers at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The timing is sure in Spring Garden's favor as the team sits on four straight wins at home while Section has been banged up by eight consecutive losses on the road dating back to last season.
