Baseball Recap: Northwestern Comes Up Short

Northwestern was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss. They took a 7-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Girard Yellowjackets. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Yellowjackets this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 14-0 on April 3rd.

Joe Schaukowitsch made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with two doubles and two RBI.

Northwestern's defeat dropped their record down to 2-8. As for Girard, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-2.

Coming up, Northwestern will be playing in front of their home fans against Eisenhower at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Knights have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 11.67 runs per game on average), something the Wildcats will no doubt try to take advantage of. Girard will be paying especially close attention to Northwestern's matchup: after Northwestern faces off against Eisenhower, they'll take on Girard again at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday.
