Baseball Recap: Russell County Takes a Loss

Russell County suffered their closest defeat since March 14th on Thursday. They fell just short of the Pike Road Patriots by a score of 4-2. The loss continues a trend for the Warriors in their meetings with the Patriots: they've now lost six in a row.

Shane Otipoby spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three earned (and one unearned) runs on five hits and racked up eight Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances.

Russell County's defeat dropped their record down to 10-15. As for Pike Road, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 12-19.

While Russell County had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair will be back at it again later today.
