Baseball Recap: Newark Has No Trouble Against Hiawatha

Newark's game last Saturday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Monday. They put the hurt on the Hiawatha Hawks with a sharp 13-0 victory. The Norsemen haven't had any issues with the Hawks recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive win against them.

Kiptyn Bleuer made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 12 over seven innings pitched. Those 12 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing three bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Newark is 2-1 when Bleuer posts two or more runs, but 0-6 otherwise.

In other batting news, Newark got a big performance out of Toby Steffen, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4. Another player making a difference was Jacob Seyller, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-5.

Newark's record now sits at 2-7.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: the Norsemen beat Hiawatha by a score of 10-0 on Tuesday.
