Baseball Recap: Bosque Drops Highest Score of Season Against Varsity Opponent

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Bosque). They put the hurt on Varsity Opponent with a sharp 16-3 victory on Saturday. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Bobcats as it put an end to their seven-game losing streak.

Drew Hebert was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Hebert was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Those two runs gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Luca Kalishman and Tas Lupo did most of the damage at the plate: Kalishman went 3-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and one double, while Lupo went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two doubles, and one stolen base. Bosque is 2-1 when Kalishman posts two or more runs, but 0-12 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Everett Hebert, who went 2-for-3 with three runs and two RBI.

Bosque always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .556. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Bosque picked up their first home victory, bumping their record up to 2-13.

Looking ahead, Bosque will challenge New Mexico Military Institute at 3:00 p.m. on Monday. The Bobcats' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Colts have averaged an impressive 7.5 runs per game this season. As for Varsity Opponent, they have already played their next matchup, a 13-12 loss against Parkersburg on the 19th.
