Baseball Recap: North Stokes Drops Season-High Score on R.J. Reynolds

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask North Stokes). They were the clear victors by a 16-1 margin over the R.J. Reynolds Demons on Thursday. The Vikings might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven games by seven runs or more this season.

Cash Dalton spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on six hits.

On the hitting side, Jackson Lester was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-4. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Michael Frye, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

North Stokes always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .667. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

North Stokes' win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-5. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.7 runs over those games. As for R.J. Reynolds, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last eight matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-8 record this season.

North Stokes is taking a road trip to challenge Mount Airy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Vikings are facing the Granite Bears at the right time seeing as the Granite Bears are stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for R.J. Reynolds, they will host Parkland at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The Mustangs have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 15.47 runs per game on average), something the Demons will no doubt try to take advantage of.
