Basketball Recap: Marshall Comes Up Short

Marshall was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss. They came up short against the Hibbing Bluejackets, falling 76-52. While losing is never fun, the Hilltoppers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Minnesota basketball rankings (they are ranked 303rd, while the Bluejackets are ranked 127th).

Marshall's defeat dropped their record down to 6-15. As for Hibbing, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 14-6 record this season.

Coming up, Marshall will take on Pillager at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. One thing working in Pillager's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last six contests. As for Hibbing, they will square off against Cloquet at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday. Hibbing knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past nine games -- so hopefully Cloquet likes a good challenge.
