Baseball Game Preview: Catskill Cats vs. Taconic Hills Titans

The Catskill Cats will head out to face off against the Taconic Hills Titans at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.

Catskill fell victim to Hudson and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They lost 8-0 to the Bluehawks. The Cats have struggled against the Bluehawks recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.

Meanwhile, Taconic Hills entered their tilt with Greenville on Wednesday with four consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with five. They never let the Spartans get on the board and left with a 22-0 victory. The result was nothing new for the Titans, who have now won nine games by six runs or more so far this season.

Tristan Super made a big impact no matter where he played. He kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 14 over five innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and two RBI.

In other batting news, Taconic Hills got a massive performance out of Maky Kirby, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs. Those three hits gave Kirby a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jacob Alvarez, who went 3-for-5 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs.

Taconic Hills kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Catskill's defeat dropped their record down to 6-12. As for Taconic Hills, their record is now 14-2.

Catskill might still be hurting after the 10-0 loss they got from Taconic Hills in their previous meeting back in April. Can the Cats avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
