Basketball Recap: Brenna Briles' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Forestburg over Saint Jo

Forestburg lost against Saint Jo back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Forestburg Longhorns lost 61-35 to the Saint Jo Panthers. While losing is never fun, the Longhorns can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1066th, while the Panthers are ranked 494th).

Several Longhorns players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Brenna Briles, who posted seven points along with five assists and five blocks. Braylee Briles was another key player, putting up eight points and four steals.

Forestburg's loss dropped their record down to 14-13. As for Saint Jo, they are on a roll lately: they've won 17 of their last 20 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 23-5 record this season.

Forestburg will take on Newcastle at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Newcastle will roll in looking for their 16th straight victory, something Forestburg surely won't give up without a fight. Saint Jo does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
