Soccer Game Preview: Alhambra vs. Benicia

Alhambra is 0-8-2 against Benicia since December of 2018 but things could change on Thursday. The Alhambra Bulldogs will face off against the Benicia Panthers at 7:00 p.m. Neither squad made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

Alhambra is headed into Thursday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Tuesday. They fell just short of Concord by a score of 2-1. The match was a 0-0 toss-up at halftime, but the Bulldogs couldn't quite close it out.

Meanwhile, for the first time this season, Benicia was forced to settle for a draw. They and Miramonte finished up their game with a 1-1 draw on Tuesday. The outcome might've been different if Thomas Jouvenot-Sells hadn't been hit with a yellow card, which no doubt limited his ability to make aggressive plays down the stretch.

Benicia's goal came courtesy of Jouvenot-Sells, which was the first he's scored this season.

Alhambra's loss dropped their record down to 1-3. Benicia's draw makes their record 1-2-1 this season.

Alhambra came up short against Benicia in their previous meeting back in January, falling 3-1. Can Alhambra avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
