Volleyball Recap: Aquinas Monarchs vs. St. Cecilia Bluehawks

Aquinas was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their 12th straight loss. They took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the St. Cecilia Bluehawks. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bluehawks this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 2-0 back in August.

Sarah Coufal paced Aquinas' offense, picking up five kills. Coufal got some help from Taylor Smith and her 11 assists. Smith also made an impact serving: she shared the team lead in aces with Clarice Andel, each putting up two.

St. Cecilia found their leader in sophomore Aspen Anderson, who had 11 digs and two aces. Nyla Mangers also deserves some recognition as she had her first dig of the season.

Aquinas' defeat dropped their record down to 3-23. As for St. Cecilia, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-8 record this season.

Aquinas will face off against Shelby-Rising City on Thursday. As for St. Cecilia, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 2-0 loss against Bishop Neumann on the 11th.
