Softball Preview: Tullahoma Wildcats vs. Marshall County Tigers

Tullahoma and Marshall County are an even 4-4 against one another since March of 2017, but likely not for long. The Tullahoma Wildcats will head out on the road to square off against the Marshall County Tigers at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Tullahoma will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.

Tullahoma will bounce into Tuesday's matchup after beating Giles County, who they hadn't topped in three consecutive meetings. Tullahoma had just enough and edged Giles County out 6-5.

Amaya Sharp spent all ten innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and three unearned) runs on six hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't pitched less than seven innings in three consecutive pitching appearances.

At the plate, Kaitlynn Gattis was excellent, scoring a run while going 3-for-5. The team also got some help courtesy of Addyson Norman, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-5.

Meanwhile, Marshall County came into Monday's match having lost three straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Lawrence County 4-3.

On the hitting side, Zakiya Taylor and Brynlee Walls did most of the damage at the plate: Taylor scored a run and stole two bases while going 2-for-3, while Walls went 1-for-3 with a triple, a run, and an RBI.

Tullahoma pushed their record up to 13-9 with that victory, which was their third straight on the road. As for Marshall County, their win bumped their record up to 12-18.

Tuesday's game will be a test for both team's pitchers. Tullahoma hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .407.
