Softball Game Preview: Brookville Raiders vs. Brockway Rovers

Brookville is 8-2 against Brockway since April of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Raiders will host the Rovers at 4:30 p.m. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Brookville made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Johnsonburg, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Raiders put the hurt on the Rams with a sharp 17-6 win on Friday.

Meanwhile, Brockway had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 11.3 runs) and they went ahead and made it five on Wednesday. They blew past the Crusaders 18-3. While the Rovers didn't have the best season last year (they finished 6-13), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Bailee Carberry looked comfortable as she struck out ten batters over four innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Rheanna Spinda, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with six RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Those six RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Elysabeth Myers, who scored two runs while going 3-for-5.

Brockway was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .452. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .308 or higher in five consecutive games.

Brockway's victory bumped their record up to 5-1. As for Brookville, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-2.

Brookville beat Brockway 4-1 when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Will the Raiders repeat their success, or do the Rovers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
